The lawyer and director of the Global Human Rights League of Bolivia, Jorge Valda, denounced before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) that the life of the President of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia, Amparo Carvajal, is in danger and calls for protective measures.
One of the arguments to be reported to the international body is the threat against Carvajal by the group called Army Willa lluch’us, represented by Grober Choquehuanca.
On September 6, two unidentified people who claimed to be part of the “army” “Willa lluch’us” in a video published on social networks threatened to burn down the house of the President of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (APDHB), Amparo Carvajal .
“Once again the warrior army ‘Willa lluch’us’ protests that these bad judges, bad policemen protected the house of (Amparo) Carvajal, this house that was built with the economy of the people that we companions have to burn. Therefore, organize we each other and we will go there anytime, “they said in the video.
“(…) they got to the point of making death threats, acts of hatred, racism and revenge as well as attacks on private property and above all attempts against integrity, the right to life and home, all due to the inappropriate persecution of Amparo Carbajal, an elderly woman, president of the APDH and defender of human rights, “says the memorial that Valda presented to the IACHR.
It also warns that not only the activist’s house is at risk, but also the APDHB facilities at 6 avenue de Agosto in La Paz Abuse of power by the government, which is led by the abbreviation Movement to Socialism (MAS) “.
The memorial describes how their rights are threatened, such as the inviolability of their home, the right to life, personal integrity, personal freedom and security, privacy and the protection of honor and dignity.
“With all the extremes exposed, I have to make it clear that Amparo Carvajal fears for her personal integrity, including her life, because, as I mentioned earlier, she was threatened and intimidated at home, for which I must say that she is in danger . ” Life, “claims Valda in the lawsuit.
In this regard, she asked the IACHR to declare that the state of Bolivia has violated Articles 5, 8, 13, 21, 24 and 25 of the American Convention on Human Rights, all in relation to Articles 1.1 and 2 of the same Convention, which entitle the holder to Inviolability of the home, which provides personal safety and the integrity of life, are immediately restored, the appropriate guarantees are given, and the offending state is sentenced to pay damages.
It is also requested that the state “refrain from engaging in human rights violations and providing guarantees to Amaro Carvajal, as his life is in danger as long as the content of this international demand is clarified.
