Vaccines: Regions report higher influx after widening the age range

Long lines marked the first two days of vaccination against Covid-19 for the population over the age of 30 in different regions of the country. Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign surpassed 23 percent of the vaccinable population with the first dose and 500,000 more doses arrived yesterday.

The Ministry of Health and Sports directed the country’s health service (headquarters) to begin vaccinating people over 30 against Covid-19 since Wednesday after a batch of 500,000 vaccine doses arrived.

A large influx was reported at the vaccination centers set up in the country in the first two days.

In Santa Cruz, headquarters reported the second highest number of people vaccinated against Covid-19 in one day, reaching 18,427 doses given in more than 30 authorized centers.

Cochabamba, meanwhile, celebrated vaccinating more than 4,000 people over the age of 30 in one day with the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine.

La Paz, Potosí, Oruro and Chuquisaca also had long queues at the vaccination sites. Tarija started vaccinating this age group yesterday.

Potosí and Beni had already started vaccinating populations over 30 years old in the absence of those over 40 a week ago, and the departmental governments of Santa Cruz, La Paz and Cochabamba were demanding government approval.

According to the Ministry of Health and Sports, the number of the vaccinable population is 7,180,428; As of Wednesday, 1,684,182 people had already been vaccinated with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
