General Jorge Terceros’ attorney, Jorge Santistevan, pointed out that prosecutors had “no interest” in locating former armed forces commander Williams Kaliman. He also confirmed that the State Department had been asked twice to testify on the “coup” case.
“The public prosecutor’s office is not interested in locating Kaliman. We are keen that the prosecution, with the assistance of state and government agencies, locate Kaliman and arrest him so that the relevant testimony can be recorded. If Kaliman does not show up, this process will not move forward and the intent is to continue to arrest the military, ”said Santistevan, quoted by Página Siete.
The lawyer pointed out that the military is being arrested by Kaliman’s statement released on November 10, 2019, proposing the resignation of former President Evo Morales.
Satistevan said the former military chief was key to the process.
After Jarjury and Terceros were arrested in July, their attorneys at memorial sites requested that prosecutors issue a summons for Kalimán or a decree to be found. However, these requests have not yet been met, as Santistevan explained.
