A powerful explosion was reported near the La Paz City Mayor’s Office tonight. The city administration confirmed that two passers-by were injured and evacuated to a medical center.
According to preliminary reports from the Antofagasta fire department, the explosion caused, among other things, the glass breakage of the former state bank, in which the Municipal Tax Authority (ATM) operates, as well as the BCP building, the town hall and other buildings near the event.
There is also a destroyed garbage container on the site, Unitel reported.
For its part, the Mayor’s Office of La Paz condemned the incident and called on the government to identify and identify those responsible.
“The GAMLP condemns this fact and calls on the government to investigate the incidents and identify those responsible,” said a statement from the municipality of La Paz.
The firefighters closed Colón and Mercado streets and are investigating the incident.
