The prosecution asks the TSE to report back once they have accredited Áñez as president

For the fifth time, the judge refused to release former President Jeanine Áñez, who wanted her doctors to treat her because of her vulnerable health, Radio Compañera reported.

Another hearing to lift the preventive detention is scheduled for tomorrow and Áñez can obtain alternative measures.

A few weeks ago it became known that the former president attempted suicide in prison. Añez has been detained in Miraflores Prison in La Paz since March and suffers from high blood pressure and severe depression. His defense and family complain that he has suffered inhuman treatment and physical and emotional torture. The prison regime rejects the allegations, insists that the ex-president is in stable health and that she is looked after like no other inmate.
