Attorney General Juan Lanchipa announced on Tuesday that a “grand commission of prosecutors” will be created, the aim of which will be to review the recommendations of the report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) and implement the events of 2019.
“We will first set up a large commission of prosecutors to properly review and implement each of the recommendations,” said Lanchipa.
The GIEI report made several recommendations to clarify the facts of the violations that occurred in 2019. He also noted a lack of judicial independence and the use of law enforcement for political ends, which continues to this day.
Lanchipa stated that the report will be analyzed first and produced as soon as possible.
He claimed that the public ministry was independent.
The attorney general added that detention trials are being encouraged in the Senkata and Sacaba cases, which the GIEI has classified as massacres.
