The Executive Director of the National Service for Protected Areas (Sernap), Teodoro Mamani Ibarra, presented Christmas baskets to the Confederación Sindical Única de Trabajadores Campesinos de Bolivia (Csutcb). Despite the fact that park rangers have not received uniforms since 2020.
The event was announced on Sernap’s social networks. The publication states: “The director stressed the importance of these dates to demonstrate camaraderie, solidarity and commitment to social organizations”.
On the other hand, a park ranger from ANMI San Matías reported that every year it was customary to hand over the uniforms for the parade in July, before the national holidays, but the last time they were donated in November 2020.
This is not the first time park rangers have turned Mamani down. In September of this year, they condemned “unjustified dismissals, staff changes, recruitment and integration of staff without following the procedures for subpoenas and competitive competitions set out in the standard” by the director of the institution.
