Six ministers have Covid-19 and are isolated

The Justice Minister Iván Lima; the government, Eduardo del Castillo; the Chancellor Rogelio Mayta; that of defense, Edmundo Novillo; von Bildung, Édgar Pary, and that of planning, Gabriela Mendoza, have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past few hours and have been isolated to comply with the biosafety protocol, the presidency announced.

These positive results are added to those of Vice President David Choquehuanca, who tested positive yesterday and was isolated.

“The vice-president and ministers are stable and adhere to the isolation protocol and perform their functions through teleworking or remote working,” the ministry told the presidency.

Covid-19 cases in Bolivia have hit an all-time high of over 11,000, although the death rate remained below 1% in this fourth wave, mainly due to vaccinations.
