Pumari's wife:

María Isabel Cusi, wife of former Ombudsman Marco Antonio Pumari, confirmed on Friday that her partner was “kidnapped” by the police and that she fears they will “make him disappear”.

Pumari was arrested last night during a surprise police operation. His truck was left with the keys in a remote area of the city of Potosí.

Cusi claimed that her husband “disappeared” without a trace at around 9.25pm on Thursday, despite having had telephone contact minutes earlier.

“He told me he had a meeting at 4:00 PM and he would be arriving at 8:00 AM. I called him at 9 p.m. and we talked. Marco said he would be there around 9:20 a.m. 9:25 I called him and the cell phones were off, “he told Unitel.

He said he checked the news and social media over rumors of a police move.

“I’m heartbroken because I don’t know where he is. Nobody gives me a reason, I just ask that you tell me where my husband is. My kids ask and I don’t know what to answer. I want them to tell me where my husband is, what he did wrong, so that they kidnap him that way. My fear is that they will harm him, that they will make him disappear, ”he said.

According to the prosecutor, Pumari was transferred to Betanzos for “safety”. The State Ministry will apply for his preventive detention.
