Public Prosecutor’s General Secretary Edwin Quispe announced that the State Ministry would apply for preventive detention of the former Potosí Mayor Marco Antonio Pumari. He reported that the former President of the Potosinist Citizens’ Committee (Comcipo) had been transferred to Betanzos “for his safety”.
Quispe stated that Pumari was arrested for the destruction of the Departmental Electoral Tribunal (TED) of Potosí during the post-2019 election conflicts.
He claimed that Pumari had been transferred to Betanzos in Potosí to keep his “safety”.
He said he will apply for preventive detention at the hearing that will be held in the next few hours.
He said that he was charged with the alleged offenses of trespassing, aggravated robbery, deterioration of state property, and disability as electoral crimes, among other things.
I assure you that the arrest is not a political persecution.
