Public and private institutions must require a vaccination card from January 1st

The government enacted a series of hygiene regulations this Thursday stating that from January 1, 2022, all public and private institutions must require a vaccination card against Covid-19 or PCR tests to enter the country.

“Public and private institutions, financial and religious institutions, shopping malls, markets and supermarkets, educational institutions, universities, technical institutes and educational institutions in general, entertainment venues and others in which there are metropolitan areas must provide the person with a vaccination card with a complete scheme” Health Minister Jeyson Auza said at a press conference.

The requirement includes means of transport.

“Interdepartmental air, land, river and rail transport companies that transport passengers inland must make the same requirements for people of vaccinable age before boarding,” said Auza.

Companies, public officials and other institutions must also adhere to the regulations.

“In addition, all civil servants, public company employees and employees of majority-owned companies are required to provide human resources with their vaccination card or, if not, a weekly PCR test to show negativity,” he said.

The full schedule, the agency clarified, consists of the two doses of the different vaccines or the Johnson & Johnson / Janssen unit dose. The certificate of the first dose is also accepted for those who choose to vaccinate in the days following the publication of the Supreme Decree.

“We understand that there may be people who do not want to be vaccinated and want to exercise this right, but the individual right of these people not to be vaccinated cannot take precedence over the right of other people who have and want to be vaccinated” to protect themselves (…) For those exercising their right to not vaccinate, they must present the real-time negative PCR test 48 hours in advance before entering these metropolitan facilities, “he said .
