Pedraza points out that the demand for an “independent judiciary” needs to be reiterated

Gustavo Pedraza, a former Civic Community candidate, said today that the right to independent justice needs to be “reaffirmed” based on the recommendations in the final report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) on the events of 2019.

“The government will do as expected and will interpret this report as it sees fit. It is not a government that respects the legal system, either internally or internationally. What we as citizens have to do is reaffirm the right to an independent judiciary and if this does not happen, when a trial or two is requested, there will be no peace, there will be no democratic exercise, ”said Pedraza in a Interview with the A. Media Mañana de Los Tiempos program and Centro Group.

Pedraza also referred to the testimony of President Luis Arce, who pointed out that there was a “coup d’état” in 2019, and claimed that he did not know “how to find the president that there was a coup”.

The former candidate said it detailed a human rights violation in the government of Evo Morales.

“All institutions must be within the law. What happens is that they now have no independent exercise,” he added.
