MAS MP Héctor Arce said yesterday that the country owed “a lot” to the tropics of Cochabamba, referring to criticism of the region for the state oil company’s millionaire payments to the Six Federations.
In the last few days there has been criticism of the government from opponents and activists for the compensation of 1.6 million dollars that the coordinator of the Six Federations of the Tropic of Cochabamba receives from YPFB Transporte for the construction of the Carrasco – Cochabamba gas pipeline.
“The country owes a lot to the tropics of Cochabamba. The tropic of Cochabamba was organically and politically the one that produced the MAS, a product of those struggles, “said the MP in a report by RKC, a radio station for the coca farmers of the Chapare.
Legislators labeled “frustrated and political failure” those who oppose the ruling party for trying to stigmatize this region of Cochabamba.
The MP added that they are falsely accusing the coca farmers of robbing the country, which is a slander.
“The Hydrocarbon Act stipulates that every project with a socio-ecological impact requires compensation. It is what is being done today for a job that was done in 2008, it is being compensated, ”he said.
