MAS presents a bill to recognize the Wiphala and Patujú as flags

The MAS Bank in the Chamber of Deputies submitted a bill with the aim of recognizing the national flags together with the tricolor, the wiphala and the patujú flower.

“Its purpose is to honor and respect our national symbols and to recognize them as national flags, along with our highest national symbol such as the national tricolor, the whipala and the patujú flower, representative emblems of the original peoples of the highlands and the lowlands of the plurinational State of Bolivia, ”said MEP Deisy Choque.

He added that the intention was to contribute to the unity and inclusion of all residents of the country.

He noted that as parliamentarians of various departments they seek unity and avoid these symbols not being used as battle banners in movements that he believes are promoted by large landowners who use indigenous peoples.

“So we will work on this bill so that the two flags can wave as a symbol of the unity, the integrity of our indigenous peoples throughout Bolivia from the promulgation of this bill,” said Choque, who introduced the bill together with other members of the MAS parliament.
