Inlasa discovers the presence of the Colombian variant in Pando and Potosí

The National Institute of Health Laboratories (Inlasa) has determined the occurrence of the Colombian variant (mu) in the departments of Pando and Potosí.

“The mu variant has been identified in at least 39 countries, and after it was first identified as a circulating variant in Colombia, the variants of interest are not associated with high mortality or disease severity,” the report said.

The Brazilian and Andean variants have also been reported to circulate in the country. The gamma variant is in Pando, Beni, Oruro, La Paz, Cochabamba and Potosí, while the lambda variant is in Oruro and Potosí.
