At least 8.5 tons of intermediate and border posts in the municipalities of Bermejo and Yacuiba in Tarija Department were destroyed this Friday by employees of the National Service for Agricultural Health and Food Safety (Senasag).
Among the confiscated and later destroyed products, food and alcoholic beverages were found that wanted to enter the country without import documents in order to later market them in supply centers.
The department head of Tarija Senasag, Michael Choque, reported that the work was carried out in coordination with officials from the National Customs, the city administration and the army. After the confiscated were destroyed, the funeral continued.
“Any product that attempts to illegally enter Bolivian territory will be confiscated using sanitary rules in order to maintain the sanitary status of the country,” said Choque.
The official assured that they will continue to work at the checkpoints across the Tarija department to prevent the entry of illegal products that affect national producers economically.
