Deputy Minister for Promotion, Epidemiological Surveillance and Traditional Medicine Maria Renee Castro said today that they are still waiting for the results of the study that could lead to a combination of vaccines without the second dose of Sputnik V.
“We are doing the analysis for the vaccine combination, there are other studies in other countries on the combination of Pfizer and AstraZeneca, we have to wait for the results of the study. We have a plan B we’re just waiting for the result. Now we have a safe, effective, voluntary and free vaccination, ”said the Vice Minister in an interview with the A Media Mañana de Los Tiempos and Grupo Centro program.
In the main cities of the country, those who were to receive the second dose of the Russian vaccine protested against the shortage of vaccines.
Faced with this situation, Castro indicated that all diplomatic mechanisms are in place to allow the vaccines to reach the country but there are no arrival dates.
“We are running all diplomatic mechanisms to get the vaccines into the country, not just to get those vaccines to arrive if no other amount of vaccine is not used. At least 6 million cans are waiting, ”he said.
