Through an instruction this Thursday, the Ministry of Health ordered the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine against the coronavirus (Covid-19) to be used like the first to support the mass vaccination campaign for people over the age of 18 in the Santa Cruz department.
The information was released by Jorge Quiroz, Urban Networks coordinator of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) of Santa Cruz after that agency announced in recent hours that it had only 6,000 doses for the anticovid vaccination campaign when the government ordered to extend the use of immunizations from those over the age of 30 to those over the age of 18.
“In accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health, which were sent in virtual form to our facility today on July 1st at 11:45 am, with the announcement that the vaccination of the age group from 18 years in which we will use the Sinopharm – Vaccine in the 105,600 second doses that arrived in the batch that we have it available to continue vaccinating this age group and use it as the first doses, “Quiroz said at a press conference.
Quiroz also pointed out that the Ministry of Health stated in the same document that it had insured the second dose for this population group.
On Wednesday evening, President Luis Arce announced the expansion of the age group for receiving the coronavirus vaccine, reducing it from 30 to 18 years and older.
In addition, the President guaranteed the delivery of 6 million Sinopharm vaccines from July 10th in batches of 1 million every 10 days. Aside from those cans, he expected the arrival of 500,000 Sputnik-V cans and 1 million Johnson and Johnson.
The head of state also called on the sub-national authorities to ensure that their hospitals are supplied with medical supplies, drugs and medical oxygen in the event of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic arriving in the country.
