Former Defense Department legal advisor arrested on tear gas case

Former Defense Department legal advisor Alan Edwin M. was arrested this afternoon as part of the trial for irregularities in the procurement of tear gas.

In May, police ransacked the former advisor’s home in La Paz city and found documents related to the gas purchase process, authorities reported.

The purchase of gases during Jeanine Áñez’s government is being investigated for irregularities and inflated prices. An investigation in the United States found that former Minister Arturo Murillo was part of a bribery and money laundering program that resulted from this hiring.

Note in development.
