According to the Ministry of Health report on the behavior of the Covid-19 pandemic dated October 2, 2021, there was a 30% increase in infections in epidemiological week 39. Seven departments have increased cases, according to the report.
“Last week, 549 more cases were reported, an increase of 30% over the previous week after 15 de-escalation reports were registered by department,” the report said.
The behavior of the pandemic is recorded as follows: Santa Cruz with + 60%; Beni, + 275%; Pando + 50%, Cochabamba + 30%, Tarija + 24%, La Paz + 4% and Oruro with + 74%.
However, Chuquisaca and Potosí are the departments that report decreases in cases of -6% and -1%, respectively.
Prior to this report, Health Minister Jeyson Auza claimed that the 30% increase did not mean the fourth wave hit the country.
“We want to be very clear on this situation, it doesn’t mean the fourth wave has started or that we should establish that there is a growth trend of the pandemic,” he said.
On the other hand, it is reported that the total number of people vaccinated in the country has reached 6,825,033; the percentage of immunized is 60% for the first doses and 40% for the full scheme.
