The Committee for the Defense of Democracy (Conade) has called the “National Meeting for the Defense of Democracy” in Santa Cruz this October 4th. The aim is to create a protest agenda against the political repression of the MAS government.
Conade launched the appeal in the face of the “attacks on adepcoca producers”, the “brutal repression” against the coca farmers, the march of the indigenous peoples against the tyrants and fires and also before the laws that “have been approved and are based on”. deepen the policy of criminalizing social protest ”.
The Conade also points out that the government has committed arbitrary arrests, political persecution, submission to the judiciary, and does not care about the health and economic needs of the population.
“It is necessary to consolidate a plural, democratic, open and permanent space for the unification of the struggles of the Bolivian people in order to develop collective strategies that prevent the government from continuing to violate democracy and carry out this expanded hunt against society” says the convocation.
The meeting serves the active and participatory elaboration of an agenda for the defense of democracy.
The event will take place on Monday, October 4th in Santa Cruz from 5:00 p.m. at a location that will be confirmed in the next few days.
Civil society organizations, trade unions, neighborhood councils, citizens’ platforms, indigenous peoples and other sectors are convened.
