Coca harvests rose 15% in 2020 and reached 29,400 hectares

Coca cultivation in Bolivia grew 15% to 29,400 hectares between 2019 and 2020, according to the United Nations Report on Drugs and Crime (Unodc).

According to the report, 25,500 hectares of coca were reported in the 2019 cultivation, while in the 2020 cultivation the crop increased to 29,400 hectares.

The report shows that coca cultivation increased by 3,900 hectares between 2019 and 2020. In Los Yungas de La Paz, cultivation increased from 16,296 hectares to 18,302 hectares, while in the tropics of Cochabamba, bush production increased from 8,769 hectares to 10,606 hectares. In the north of La Paz, the harvest increased from 468 hectares to 510 hectares.
