The executive body of the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB), Juan Carlos Huarachi, announced that mobilizations against “destabilizing attempts” against the government will take place on October 12th.
“We will not allow any further attempts at destabilization, we will not allow the Creoles to destabilize our government directly from Santa Cruz,” said Huarachi.
The COB leader called on all affiliates across the country to join the call led by the Bolivian labor centers. He also called for union federations and grassroots unions to massively concentrate in the Santa Cruz department.
He pointed out that from this Wednesday the COB will declare itself in a state of emergency “to defend democracy and the process of change”.
Mobilizations from various areas of the MAS and the opposition were announced from October 10th to 11th. The latter rejects the law against illicit profits, in “defense of democracy”, the alleged persecution of citizen leaders and others.
Some of the MAS related organizations such as the Confederación Sindical Única de Trabajadores Campesinos (Cesutcb) expressed their opposition to the mobilization of civilians.
