Bolivia this Friday reported a new daily record of Covid-19 infections with 14,461 cases, raising the accumulated positive cases to 739,920 since March 2020, amid a fourth wave of the pandemic.
It is the third straight day that new infections surpass 14,000, with a record 14,160 cases reported the previous day.
The Department of Health report reports 39 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 20,188.
Cochabamba reported 2,929 new cases, La Paz had 2,315, Tarija registered 1,867, Chuquisaca 1,422, Oruro 1,220, Potosí 742 and the Amazon regions of Beni and Pando reported 355 and 213 respectively.
Santa Cruz again had the highest number of infections at 3,398 cases, although not at the level of the previous week, the report said.
The active cases are 137,483 and the total number of recovered patients is 582,249.
The fatality rate in this fourth wave is 0.6%, according to health officials.
So far, 5,402,601 people have received the first dose of anti-Covid vaccines, another 3,910,563 have received the second and 992,823 have been immunized with single-dose drugs.
Approximately 622,050 adolescents aged 12 to 17 received the first doses and 380,554 completed the vaccination schedule, while 422,253 children aged 5 to 11 received the first dose and 91,336 received the second dose.
