President Luis Arce announced today that a million Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive in the country “in the following weeks” thanks to the Covax Mechanism.
“We are announcing to the Bolivian people that more than a million Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccines will arrive in line with the donation through the Covax Mechanism in the following weeks. Our government’s diplomatic efforts are yielding results in the fight against the pandemic, ”Arce said through her Twitter account.
The president’s announcement comes a day after Benjamin Blanco, deputy minister for foreign trade, announced that Bolivia expects 25,000 second doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine by July 9. In addition, another 600,000 would arrive by next August (200,000 on July 18; another 400,000 by August 15).
As of Monday June 28, 1,823,110 people had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to the Ministry of Health report.
Additionally, the report indicates that 676,525 people received the booster vaccination and completed the vaccination process.
The ministry would like to point out that the vaccines administered are Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
