Former President Jeanine Áñez was transferred from Miraflores prison to the Alemana clinic in La Paz city for medical examinations.
The ex-president was led out by a group of police officers in a wheelchair.
Her relatives were waiting at the door of the prison but could not speak to the ex-president.
The prosecution approved a two-hour court exit for medical examinations.
Carolina Ribera, the ex-president’s daughter, announced that her mother had been examined that morning without notifying her lawyers.
Ribera claimed her mother’s health was precarious and the government had her as a political trophy.
Áñez has been jailed for the alleged 2019 coup since last March.
