Áñez asked to see Senator Rek and Amparo Carvajal to discuss his health

In a letter, former President Jeanine Áñez asked the director of Miraflores Prison, Senator Centa Rek, and the President of the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, to visit to discuss their health.

“The reason for this is that I saw Senator Centa Rek López and the Bolivian human rights advocate Amparo Carvajal on Wednesday 18th situation,” it says in part of the letter.

The former president has been detained in La Paz Women’s Prison since March for the “coup d’état” accused of conspiracy, sedition and terrorism during the 2019 events.

Last week, Áñez received medical attention and was referred to the thoracic hospital for examination, but returned to prison.
